The NLSA Pretoria Campus administers the Southern African Interlending Scheme (SAIS) and acts as mediator in Interlending differences. Member cooperation is fundamental for successful completion of Interlending requests. Registered members of the Scheme undertake to comply with the rules.

1.        Conditions of registration
1.1.     All libraries handling Interlending requests register as members of SAIS.
1.2.     Registration is annual with payment of the prescribed registration fee.
1.3.     Libraries affiliated to a member of SAIS still have to become individual members in order to use it.
2.        Rules of the Scheme
2.1.     SAIS procedures are set out in the IL Manual
2.2.     Requests should be submitted on the prescribed form or other approved method such as the Sabinet Request module, online or e-mail.
2.3.    The stipulated standard fees apply to all SAIS users.
2.4.    Payment for handling requests and supplying documents is made by means of coupons or IFM if using Sabinet Request Module.
2.5.    Publications are made available to members by means of loan and/or document supply. Members decide individually which items in their collections           are not available for this purpose.
2.6.    Information such as national and international statistics requested by the NLSA, Pretoria Campus by means of surveys, is supplied by members.
2.7.    All requests and payments should be dealt with promptly at all points by both the requesting and supplying library.
